Legacy Email Services
legacymail.ca provides email forwarding services to small business and to non-profit organizations who wish to take advantage of our support of legacy addressing, and of our zero-tolerance anti-spam policies.
Our mail server supports both single and multiple recipients for an email address which relates to a position or a responsibility rather than to an individual.
We are all used to seeing legacy addresses used for functions like "webmaster" or "abuse" etc at a domain, which will be received by an individual who fulfils that function.
legacymail.ca addresses are of the form:position.organisation@legacymail.ca. and will be forwarded to the personal email address of the person holding that position. For instance, the secretary of a club, could be emailed using secretary.clubname@legacymail.ca, and we would forward the email to him. Next year, when a new person takes the position, simply change the email address of the recipient, and the new person begins receiving the email.
The principal of a Legacy Address, is that it survives and remains valid, no matter which individual is occupying the position.
The primary reason given by clubs and small business for not using email addresses in their advertising is the rate of change, or turn-over in the postions. Legacy addressing, if the forwarding list is properly maintained, allows small enterprise and, indeed, any business or organisation, to use email for timely communications without worrying about loss of information . The legacy addresses do not change.
We maintain a zero-tolerance anti-spam policy at our email server. Since we can provide outgoing mail transfer services to our clients, your personal email address need never be seen by the public. This protects your personal mailbox from the thousands of unsolicited email messages we reject in the course of a day.
We will soon have our web-based interface up to permit you to maintain your email addresses on line. In the meantime, contact our "Sales Manager"<dan dot rickards at legacymail dot ca>
